要怎麼用英文跟同事、家人或朋友說自己「因為塞車，所以會遲到」呢？

A: Oh no! It looks as if we are completely stuck in traffic now. Is it possible to get to the office by nine o’ clock?

B: I don’t think we can get there by 9:30, _________ 9:00. Can you call John and tell him that we will be late for the meeting because we are stuck in traffic? See if he can reschedule the meeting for us.

基本上只要了解這四個選項的意思和用法，再依照前後文，就可以推斷出正確答案囉！

(A) unless

Unless 是「除非」的意思，後面會接一個小句子，有「主詞＋動詞….」。舉例：

I can’t let you in unless you have your employee badge.

（除非你有員工證，否則我無法讓你進去。

這句也可以把順序顛倒，記得加個逗號喔：

Unless you have your employee badge, I can’t let you in.

(B) not to mention

Not to mention 是「更不用提」的意思，mention 是動詞「提及」，後面會接「名詞」。舉例：

Many young people can’t afford to buy a car, not to mention a house.

（很多年輕人買不起一台車，更不用說一棟房子。）

(C) in addition to

In addition to 是「除了…（還有…）」的意思，後面會接「名詞」。舉例：

In addition to an apartment in downtown Taipei, he has a villa in Hualien.

（除了一間在台北市中心的公寓，他還有一棟在花蓮的別墅。）

(D) especially

Especially 是「尤其是」，還有「格外地、特別地」、「專門；特地」等意思喔。依序舉例：

I love the food at this restaurant, especially their sesame oil chicken soup.
（我愛這間餐廳的食物，尤其是他們的麻油雞湯。）

This local specialty is especially popular among Japanese tourists.
（這個當地特產在日本遊客之間特別受歡迎。）

This course is designed especially for those who want to improve their business communication in English.
（這個課程是專門為那些想要提升商用英文的人所設計。）
