影后的神秘致詞

本屆奧斯卡，法蘭西絲麥多曼（Frances McDormand）以《意外》（Three Billboards Ostside Ebbing, Missouri）贏得最佳女主角獎。這是她1997年以《冰風暴》（Fargo）獲得奧斯卡最佳女主角獎後，再度封后。法蘭西絲麥多曼上台發表謝詞時，結尾留下了兩個英文字：「inclusion rider」，引起熱搜。

「看看四周，女士與先生們，因為我們全都有故事要說、計畫需要融資。女士與先生們，今晚，我送大家兩個字：inclusion rider。」——法蘭西絲麥多曼（Frances McDoemand）

“Look around, ladies and gentlemen, because we all have stories to tell and projects we need financed. I have two words to leave with you tonight, ladies and gentlemen: inclusion rider.”

Inclusion rider是什麼意思？可在美國南加州大學Annenberg新聞與傳播學院副教授Stacy Smith一場TED演講找到答案（10分15秒後提及inclusion rider）：

「你可能不知道，一般電影中，有對白的角色大約有40到45個，我會說只有8到15個在故事中是關鍵角色。《復仇者聯盟》（Avengers）也許是例外，它的主要角色會多一點。其他30多個角色，沒有理由這些角色不能反映故事中的人口組成。」——Stacy Smith

“You probably don’t know but the typical feature film has about 40 to 45 speaking characters in it. I would argue that only 8 to 10 of those characters are actually relevant to the story. Except maybe “Avengers.” Right? A few more in “Avengers.” The remaining 30 or so roles, there’s no reason why those minor roles can’t match or reflect the demography of where the story is taking place.” 

Inclusion rider即「多元附加條款」。在Stacy Smith看來，多元附加條款可以讓一線演員再談合約時，要求片中角色組成，忠實反映真實世界的樣貌。這個多元附加條款可讓電影製作中，弱勢族群的工作權可以受到保障。

法蘭西絲麥多曼也在奧斯卡後台解釋。「我上星期剛發現這件事。」她說，「這一直是大家可以運用的——當各位在對一部影片進行談判時，附加一條多元包容條款意味著你可以在角色中要求至少百分之50的多樣性，不只在選角上，劇組中也行。這件事我從事電影產業35了才知道，事實是：我們沒有在走回頭路。」

“I just found out about this last week,” she said. “[This] has always been available to all—everybody that does a negotiation on a film, an inclusion rider which means that you can ask for and/or demand at least 50 percent diversity in not only the casting, but also the crew. And so, the fact that we—that I just learned that after 35 years of being in the film business—we’re not going back.”
