美國傳奇歌手巴布狄倫（Bob Dylan）榮獲2016年諾貝爾文學獎，為首位獲頒此獎的歌手和作曲人，跌破專家眼鏡。
巴布狄倫如今高齡75歲，2011年4月曾來台開場，不過你對他了解多少呢？從1961年發布首張專輯至今，他被廣泛認為是當時美國新興反叛文化代言人，儘管本人否認了這點。但他部份作品的確成為當時民權反戰運動的聖歌，例如「Blowing’ in the Wind」和「The Times They Are a-Changing」。

美國創作歌手，現年七十五歲的搖滾詩人巴布狄倫（Bob Dylan），榮獲2016年諾貝爾文學獎！
雙重破天荒。這是諾貝爾文學獎首次頒給流行歌曲作詞家，也是流行樂界首次有人得到諾貝爾文學獎。
流行樂界的創作歌手很多，歌詞寫得好的不少，而外號叫搖滾詩人的至少也有一打，但要論歌詞的開創性、深刻度與影響力，那麼不管是質與量，巴布狄倫都是最佳幾人之一，當然質與量通算起來，毫無疑問他是英美流行樂界幾十年來的第一。
巴布狄倫的創作生涯超過五十年，從革命動盪的1960年代一直到美國獨霸獨強的二十一世紀，他始終抱著吉他，咬著口琴，用著獨特的呢喃低吟半唱半唸，像是即興卻又那麼到位的口氣與聲腔，紀錄一個搖滾歌手對世界與時代的觀察，以及一個藝術家對人類文明的批判與忠告。
反戰，爭人權，關注弱勢與受苦族群，並為沉溺於發展與飛騰的國度，帶來一面面自我映照之鏡，當然也反思個人生命內涵與愛的意義，這是巴布狄倫的創作主軸，永遠充滿社會意識、哲學深度與詩的美感。巴布狄倫的歌，當然是詞意為重，但他的作曲才華也相當驚人，總在木吉他與口琴簡單伴奏之下，在唇舌滾動，唸著一長串宛如符咒的歌詞之後，迸出幾句容易琅琅上口的旋律。
巴布狄倫獲得諾貝爾文學獎，眾人意外，其實他已入圍好幾年，在賭盤上也排入前十名，並非全無呼聲。當然他的獲獎勢必引來一些討論——他的歌詞，跟其他諾貝爾獎詩人的詩作，能夠相提並論嗎？
他的語言或許不是最好，但他反應時代精神的廣度與深度，置諸被美國國力與文化主導的當代世界，最是切題與豐富。
他的歌詞用了詩的語言與技法，但畢竟還是流行歌詞，比起正統詩作，他的歌詞對一般讀者來說可親可近許多。當然比起純文學的詩作，他的歌詞能唱能聽，娛樂價值更高。
諾貝爾文學獎去年頒給報導文學作家，今年又頒給歌手，似乎想藉由不典型的給獎對象，擴展諾貝爾文學獎的定義。諾貝爾文學獎委員會秘書說，希望他們做這樣的選擇，頒給巴布狄倫，不會被罵。
當然有人會罵，但這世上文學讀者多，還是搖滾歌迷多？絕對是掌聲大於噓聲。
巴布狄倫的歌詞值得一首首仔細聆賞，但如果沒有時間，那麼他最好的歌詞，公認是底下這首〈宛如滾石〉（Like a Rolling Stone）。我翻譯的。
