雖然在職場上的兩性平等概念已經逐漸普及，但是不得不承認的是，有時候人們還是常常因為性別刻板印象的影響，認為女性無法勝任某些工作。最近，美國就有位男性主管，親身做了實驗之後才發現，女性在職場上面對的困境遠比他想像中的多。
Martin Schneider是影評網站的編輯，最近他在推特分享了他用了同事Nicole的身份工作後，發生的一連串事件。
起初，Martin的老闆向他抱怨，女同事Nicole花了太多時間在同一位客戶身上。一開始，Martin認爲這可能只是Nicole經驗還不足，便不以為意。

直到某天，Martin在一封與客戶溝通的信中，被客戶以輕蔑的態度回覆。Martin在推特上抱怨這位客戶對他的態度相當不可理喻、粗魯、輕蔑。正當他對這一切感到憤怒時，突然發現他在這一連串的信件來往中，是以女同事Nicole的身份在與客戶連絡的。

Martin意識到，這位客戶無理的態度全因為他是Nicole、是女生。於是，他告訴客戶「嘿，我是Martin，我接手處理了Nicole的工作。」
It was Nicole he was being rude to, not me. So out of curiosity I said “Hey this is Martin, I’m taking over this project for Nicole.”

接下來發生的事讓Martin難以置信，這位無理的客戶對他的態度有了360度的轉變。客戶開始積極回覆Martin、感謝他提出的建議等等。

接下來的兩個禮拜，Martin與Nicole決定交換身份工作。Martin在推特上表示他度過了像地獄般的一週，他所提出的問題或建議都被質疑，甚至還被問「你現在單身嗎？」
而Nicole的生產力則突飛猛進。Martin意識到，Nicole工作老是比較慢完成，全是因為她需要花更多時間才能得到客戶的信任。

只因為性別不同，就被客戶質疑沒有工作能力。這一切聽起來很荒謬，但卻是真實的發生在我們的生活中。那些我們從沒注意過的職場不平等，還正在不停發生。
